A New York raccoon must have been late for his flight.
Video shows a raccoon falling from the ceiling near the Spirit Airlines check-in area and scampering through the security line at New York's LaGuardia Airport on Monday morning.
The incident happened around 8 a.m. in Terminal A, the airport told USA TODAY in a statement.
The animal was captured and released outside of the airport, and there were no further sightings as of Wednesday afternoon. No injuries were reported and the airport said that it was working with a professional animal control company to investigate any potential entry points.

Raccoons are generally defensive in nature but have sharp claws and teeth that can be dangerous.
Raccoons can carry diseases, including rabies and roundworm. If attacked by a raccoon, a person should get checked for rabies.
Raccoons can carry other diseases, according to Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, including:
- Giardiasis
- Leptospirosis
- Salmonella
- E. Coli
